RAPID DEPLOYMENT FACILITIES

PROJECT INFORMATION

COMPANY: Infrastructure Ontario

LOCATION: Thunder Bay & Kenora, Ontario

DATE: 2020

The correctional facilities in Thunder Bay and Kenora underwent significant expansion as part of the Ministry of the Solicitor General's Segregation Capital Program for Rapid Deployment Facilities (RDF), an accelerated build initiative. These projects entailed the construction of new 50-bed medium security correctional facilities at each site, fostering increased access to literacy, skills development, and technology programs to support successful community reintegration. Importantly, the expansion addressed overcrowding issues at both facilities, offering a sustainable solution.
